The Highland Wax Company are based around 40 minutes from the Home of The Green Greyhound and we are proud to stock a company that is so local to us.   

 

The Highland Wax Co. is a family run business based outside Nairn. Originally practicing chemists, Mary-Ann and Stuart have since turned their hand to Beekeeping and now utilise their scientific skills developing & producing exceptional hand crafted, natural Beeswax based products

 

The inspiration for their products has been influenced by many sources. They both started their careers as analytical chemists in the pharmaceutical industry in Kent before branching out into Sports and Remedial Massage Therapies (Mary-Ann) and forestry (Stuart) back home in Scotland.

 

A love of nature and sport, and a concern for the environment feature heavily in their lifestyle and this is reflected in their products. In 2014 they started keeping bees, partly due to their interest in the manufacture of their prime ingredient (Scottish Beeswax), but primarily due to concern about the plight of the honeybee.

 

The development of their products has allowed them to indulge their analytical chemistry experience, whilst looking after their bees has given us the opportunity to work with and look after nature as a family – their 3 little ones are usually pretty keen to lend a hand (long may it continue!).

 

Their products are all made from the finest natural ingredients. They carefully research all of their ingredients and packaging; selecting recyclable & sustainable materials, and where viable reducing air-miles, without compromising the quality or presentation of their products.

 

When they're not producing and marketing beeswax products, or looking after the bees………

 

……Mary-Ann juggles nursery and school runs with her busy Sports Therapy practice. In what other spare time there is she enjoys road biking, running and is currently learning Gaelic to keep up with the wee ones at school.

 

…… Stuart spends his day working in forests and woodlands as a surveyor. With a passion for the outdoors, sports and nature, Stuart also takes part in triathlon, hill races and mountain biking.

All our Beeswax is produced in the Scottish Highlands, including our own back garden where our busy bees are always hard at work!

DESCRIPTION

Highlander’s Balm was inspired by Mary-Ann’s brother, Andy. He is a rugby player, runner, cyclist and all round good lad. Andy asked us to develop a product to tame his trendy beard – but soon realised Highlander’s Balm could do so much more – keep his beard in check, moisturise his face, nourish his bruised and battered skin, stop chafing, the list goes on……
